A Study Group is the concept of some instructors sharing information with a group of dancers and inviting them to cumulatively explore and embody these new concepts each week in their own way. 📣 What is *this* Study Group? 📣 There are many offering classes/workshops in growing the body, growing in the dance, or growing as a person in the dance (empowerment). I’d like to offer a more novel idea close to my heart – a study group designed to build and introduce techniques for how we can grow in artistry: “Building/Exploring Techniques of Artistry”. This is essentially an intersection of all 3 areas of growth, while focusing on the main thing that defines artistry for me: intention. How can we grow in intention? And when we add intention, how does that influence/guide how we use the dance, what techniques we need to find and build, and how does purpose/intention in our dance empower us in our artistry as communicators *through* the dance. 📣 Who is the audience of this Study Group? 📣 This is a high-level study group within Brazilian Zouk aimed at high-level/JnJ/intentional dancers desiring new/limitless levels of communication in their dance. It is for those desiring to develop and tune their own identity in Brazilian Zouk. It is for those even with questions ranging from “what is artistry” to “what additional techniques can I implore to develop/find new levels in my own artistry”. The goal of the study group is not to teach Brazilian Zouk, but to introduce concepts/ideas, and explore techniques to achieve those concepts within Brazilian Zouk, while exploring how these techniques/concepts can change the shape/artistry of the dance when we embody/explore them with intention. 📣 What is the format for this Study Group? 📣 This inaugural edition of the study group will be a 3 week cumulative series, 2 hours each week, introducing 2 inter-related topics each week that will culminate into a full idea utilizing all of the topics by the 3rd week. I’m excited to announce a collaboration on this iteration with Nathalia Moura. 📣 How do I sign up for this Study Group? 📣 Due to the nature and intentionality of the study group, we understand it is not for everyone and does require a significant base of Brazilian Zouk along with a specific mindset/desire of the dancer. As such, the study group will be conducted by invitation/director approval. You can send a direct message to Charles-Christopher Onyeama to inquire further.
